Sol Daycare is a childcare center located in San Francisco, serving local families with a bilingual approach. The client wanted a bright, friendly brand identity, with emphasis on the word “Sol” (Spanish for sun), which in Venezuelan culture also represents a bright and lovely person. The logo was designed to feature a sunbeam emerging from the letter “O”, symbolizing warmth and positivity. I was tasked with designing their logo, a simple, user-friendly website, and promotional materials like flyers and business merchandise.
The idea behind the branding was to create a youthful, inviting, and colorful brand that reflects the energy of the daycare. The sunbeam in the “O” was designed to be the central visual element, symbolizing the daycare’s focus on nurturing children in a warm, safe, and vibrant environment. The website design needed to be minimalistic yet effective in conveying key information to parents, while maintaining an air of trustworthiness and professionalism.
1. Logo Design:
• The logo was designed to feature bright colors, primarily yellow and blue, which inspire a sense of joy and positivity. The sunbeam emerging from the “O” of “Sol” was the centerpiece, creating an approachable and child-friendly aesthetic.
• The typography was chosen for its legibility and modern look, ensuring the logo would stand out on various platforms like shirts, flyers, and website headers.
2. Website Design:
• The website was created using Webflow, ensuring a clean and responsive design that worked across all devices. Key pages included a homepage, about section, gallery, blog, and a contact page. The design was minimal yet colorful, with intuitive navigation tailored to the needs of parents looking for a safe, bilingual daycare center.
• Integration of a multilingual feature using Weglot was suggested to offer both English and Spanish for a broader audience.
3. Flyer & Merchandise Design:
• Flyers were designed with a minimalistic, playful style, using vibrant colors and clean lines to appeal to parents in the local community. Additionally, shirts and other merchandise were created, featuring the logo and brand colors, which reinforced the daycare’s identity.
• Logo: The final logo was a playful yet professional representation of the daycare, with sun-like elements that embody warmth and care.
• Website: The website provided essential information in a clear, easy-to-navigate format, with a bilingual option for English and Spanish speakers.
• Flyers & Merchandise: The promotional materials were consistent with the brand’s identity, creating a cohesive and inviting image for both online and offline channels.
• Client Feedback: The client loved the design, particularly the vibrant, approachable logo and the simplicity of the website, which helped attract local parents.
• Market Impact: The website and promotional materials contributed to increasing the daycare’s visibility within the San Francisco community, successfully positioning Sol Daycare as a trusted childcare provider.
This project allowed me to explore youth-oriented branding while maintaining a balance between playfulness and professionalism. The experience reinforced the importance of creating a consistent brand identity across digital and print platforms.
