SDA School T-Shirt Design for CAS 2022

Client: SDA School | CAS 2022

Date: 2022

Role: Graphic Designer

Project Type: T-Shirt Design (Youth Event)

Platforms: Apparel Design (Print & Digital Mockups)

Briefing:

This project involved designing a T-shirt for SDA School’s CAS 2022 event, aimed at the school’s youth. The client wanted a design that reflected the spirit of youthfulness while maintaining a minimalistic aesthetic. The key elements were a wolf design with a graffiti-inspired finish, and the colors blue and yellow were chosen as the dominant palette. The design also had to ensure the wolf emblem stood out against the background, while the font needed to be readable and look good on both blue and black shirts.

Concept & Idea:

The concept revolved around creating a youthful, fun, and unique design that appealed to the school’s students while keeping the overall look minimal. The wolf was to symbolize strength and community, while the graffiti-inspired style added an urban, modern touch that resonated with the students. The goal was to ensure that the design was eye-catching yet simple, allowing for flexibility across various shirt colors.

This was the first option designed for the Highschool CAS

Design Process:

1. Research: I explored graffiti and street art styles, focusing on elements that would evoke a modern, urban feel without overwhelming the design. I also researched wolves as symbols, ensuring the depiction would be strong yet minimalist.

2. Wolf Design: The wolf was drawn with a focus on bold, clean lines that maintained a minimalistic silhouette. The background featured a graffiti-inspired motif with subtle textures to create depth while maintaining the youthful vibe.

3. Typography: The font was chosen to be bold yet legible, ensuring it would stand out on both blue and black shirts. It was designed to be modern, matching the energy of the wolf while still being readable at various sizes.

4. Color Palette: The client specified blue and yellow as the main colors. These were used in a way that highlighted the wolf, creating a strong contrast between the graffiti elements and the background while ensuring the design was vibrant and fun.

Solution (Final Design):

T-Shirt Design: The final design featured the wolf in the foreground, with graffiti-like elements in the background. The colors were adjusted for both blue and black shirts, ensuring the design looked dynamic and youthful. The font added a modern twist, with the school’s name and event clearly visible.

Outcome:

Result: The design was a hit with the students, and the school successfully distributed the shirts for the CAS 2022 event. The shirts were well-received, with students loving the youthful and modern style.

Client Feedback: The school was thrilled with how the design turned out, appreciating how it captured the balance of minimalism and youthful energy. The shirts were used both for the event and later as part of the school’s merchandise.

Reflection:

This project allowed me to experiment with youth-oriented designs while balancing minimalism and street art influences. One takeaway from the project is the importance of testing designs across different fabric colors to ensure readability and visibility in various settings.
